Project Overview
Course: Media Project Planning
Project Type: Website Redesign

My Role: UX/UI Designer - Graphic Designer
Timeline: May - July 2025

The Challenge
The existing Kanata Art Club website contained valuable information but lacked a clear structure and cohesive visual identity. Users with different goals like artists, learners, and art enthusiasts often had difficulty finding relevant content.

Our challenge was to redesign the website to create a more intuitive user experience while modernizing the brand and preserving its connection to the existing community.
The Goals
Research
We began the project by developing a creative brief and identifying the needs of the organization and its audience. Through audience research, persona development, and user journey exploration, we gained a deeper understanding of how different users interact with the website.

To better support user goals, we redesigned the website's sitemap and content structure. The new architecture prioritized clear navigation pathways for each audience group, making it easier for users to find relevant information without unnecessary steps.
Artists
Looking for opportunities to showcase their work
Art Learners
Interested in classes, workshops, and resources.
Art Enthusiasts
Looking to explore artwork, exhibitions, and community events.
Branding
A key objective of the redesign was to modernize the brand while preserving familiarity for existing members. To achieve this, we developed a mood board, defined the tone and manner of the brand, and created a refreshed visual identity.

Logo Design
The logo shows the letters KAC, which stands for Kanata Art Club. For the font, we chose “Brusher”, a typeface that resembles paintbrush strokes and combined it with the paintbrush to represent art and creativity. The design combines clean lettering with an artistic symbol to reflect what the club is all about.

Colour Palette
For the colour palette, we chose to keep the core colours from the original website blue, orange, and purple but refined the selection for a cohesive look. We decided to focus on just two main colours: orange and blue, to reduce visual clutter and create a more balanced design.

Prototype
This prototype focuses on the visual redesign and page layouts rather than a fully interactive user experience. To explore the design, use the navigation menu in the header to switch between pages and view the different sections of the website.
