Project Overview
Client: OC Transpo
Project Type: Marketing Material
My Role: Technical Graphic Designer
Timeline: December 2025
My Role
During my co-op with OC Transpo’s Creative Production team, I created visuals for social media (Instagram feed and stories, plus graphics for Bluesky, X, and Facebook), website assets (news thumbnails and page banners) and TIS (Transit Information Screen) ads for campaigns and recurring annual events. I primarily used Adobe Illustrator for this project.
Key projects I contributed to included the Winter Service Change, Holiday Service Change, the Safety Awards campaign, and a page banner for the launch of the new Accessibility page. Throughout each project, I focused on making information easy to read, consistent, and accessible across platforms.
Service Change?
Every season, OC Transpo updates its schedule. Some routes run more often, and some run less often. For this Winter Service Change, the updates were focused on bus service.
Design Approach
To help share the message in a clear and friendly way, I designed a winter-themed illustration that feels local to Ottawa. I included one of OC Transpo’s buses, the O logo, and a snowflake icon to instantly signal “winter service.” I also added the OC owl mascot, a bus stop, and riders to show a real transit moment, people waiting and taking the bus.

To make it feel like Ottawa, I used an illustration of the Parliament Buildings and created a set of neighbourhood buildings and houses to build the scene. I kept the full design in shades of blue with snowfall details to create a calm, winter vibe, while still keeping OC Transpo’s branding visible and consistent.

Deliverables
This design was adapted across multiple formats, including a website page banner, a news thumbnail, and social media graphics. I produced versions in English and French, as well as bilingual layouts, and also created TIS (Transit Information Screen) ads that were displayed across bus stations.
Holioday Service Change
OC Transpo runs a special holiday schedule during the holiday period. This service change covered the timeframe from December 22 to January 2 this year and included updates to bus routes, O-Train service, and Para Transpo minibuses.

Design Approach
To keep the campaign consistent with the Winter Service Change, I used the same illustration style and layout system, but shifted the mood to a holiday theme. I updated the colour palette to a classic red and green combination and added bus, train, and Para Transpo illustrations to show that the changes applied to all services.
To create a festive feel while staying on-brand, I used simple holiday elements like a snow-covered tree, gift wrap, a snowflake, and ornaments, along with the O logo to maintain OC Transpo’s visual identity.
This design was adapted for multiple platforms, including social media, website assets and TIS (Transit Information Screen) ads. It was displayed on the website during the full holiday service period (Dec 22–Jan 2) to support clear communication across all channels.
